Innovations at sea
Holographic imaging in navigation
A new phase of technological advancement in maritime navigation is set to become a reality. Holographic imaging technology will allow mariners to see information more quickly and interactively, and data reflected on the windshield can be tracked without leaving the sea. The study is one of the results of the improvement in data collection technology of hydrographic survey platforms, which requires the development of a digital bathymetric model. Combining data from measurements by unmanned surface and aerial vehicles, trials are being conducted primarily in the shallowest waters up to the coastline.
Between boat and airplane
The adoption of electric systems in small boats is also gaining traction, leading to a shifti n watercraft technology. Vessev has engineered the VS-9 model with the purpose of diminishing energy usage by a maximum of 90 percent. This is achieved by implementing a hydrofoil mechanism to propel the nine-meter boat to a speed of 25 knots. The energy-efficient variant, which minimizes friction, has a range of fifty nautical miles. The primary catalyst for the investment is New Zealand’s steadfast dedication to achieving complete reliance on electricity and hydrogen as its only energy sources by the year 2040.

Brands on the beach
Sporty accessories from luxury brands have been added to the 2024 trends created by fashion on beaches. New products from Balenciaga’s Summer Objects line include a volleyball, sun towel, boogie board and racket set. The common feature of these special designs is that they are black. Loro Piana, which designs products for beach activities in line with the demands of the season, joins the movement with a paddleball set made of light wood with leather- covered handles and offers the product in a waterproof bag.

What’s in the distance?
Kiteoptics’ APC-50 binoculars feature newly developed image stabilization and are designed for long run times. The Belgian brand, which has been producing binoculars with optical image stabilization since 2021, has released two new models with fast 50-millimeter optics. The products were designed to address a stabilization range of two degrees, ensuring the capture of high-quality photographs without any loss and with rapid stabilization. The binoculars, which can operate continuously for 38 hours, can be powered by either two AA batteries or lithium-ion batteries.
