A race around the world

The 2025-26 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has begun. Ten 70-feet boats with identical features set sail on a forty-thousand mile round the world voyage, and the adventure, which would last nearly a year, began in Portsmouth, England.

The 2025-26 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, that has eight stages, is the most widely attended world tour race. The most exciting point is that everyone can apply to participate. Those who are willing to go through a rigorous training program can embark on this adventure even if they have no prior ocean experience. There is no distinction made between gender, age or experience. The organization teaches the participants everything they need to know to become a confident ocean racer.

Participants of this unique adventure filled with fierce waves, freezing cold and frightening winds along the way, spend more than two hundred days of about eleven months at sea, competing in every hour and condition. It is a tiring year as they carry out vital tasks such as maintenance and material supply during the stops between stages. Those who join one of the ten race teams, each with approximately sixty crew members, do their part in the shift system, where 22 crew members are active at any time, and share an unforgettable experience.

Those who want to race in this cramped living environment, away from the comfort of their own home, in a hot or cold, quiet or noisy environment, are offered a choice between racing a forty thousand nautical miles under the leadership of two professional captains or testing themselves in one or more of the eight unique stages. The reward is watching the sunrise thousands of kilometers away from the land, watching the seabirds that chase the wind rising from the sails, sometimes a hot coffee that warms your insides and genuine friendships.
